HENDRIKA SANDERS 1925 - 2007 Peacefully with family at her side, Hendrika Sanders passed away on September 10, 2007 at Seven Oaks Hospital at the age of 82 years. Hendrika will be sadly missed by her daughter Joyce, son Ron and granddaughter Taylor. She will also be missed by her two sisters, Ini Knippers and Annie Kerkhof of the Netherlands, as well as many in-laws, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Peter, parents, Hermannus and Antonia and brother Bernard. Hendrika was born in Vriezeveen, the Netherlands on September 1, 1925. She married Peter on May 1, 1949 and immigrated to Winnipeg in 1954, where she spent many happy years with her family. Hendrika worked as a pre-school teacher and spent 18 years as a community worker in the North End until her retirement in 1990. Mom enjoyed singing and spent her early years singing in a choir. She also enjoyed spending time with all her family and friends and had a great love for all children. Mom also had a great sense of humour as she would always have a wisecrack or answer for every question. Mom devoted her time and efforts to her children making sure they had everything they needed, often sacrificing her needs and wants. The family would like to thank Dr. A. Fatoye and Dr. Haligowski and the staff on the 3rd floor Unit 5 for their wonderful care and support. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, September 14, 2007 at Glen Eden Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m. with Fr. Sam Argenziano officiating. A private family interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers a donation may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society or the Manitoba Lung Association. Sadly missed, always loved, but never forgotten To Mom and Oma In tears we saw you sinking, We watched you fade away. You suffered much in silence, You fought so hard to stay. You faced your task with courage, Your spirit did not bend, But still you kept on fighting Until the very end. God saw you getting tired When a cure was not to be, So He put His arms around you, And whispered, Come with Me. So when we saw you sleeping So peaceful, free from pain, We could not wish you back To suffer that again. Always, remembered, always cherished. Each memory a part of us, a part of you, Never to be lost. Arrangements entrusted to: Glen Eden Funeral Home 4477 Main Street 338-7111
